What about the youth who do zina?

Youth and Zina

Allah, The Most High, Says:

And go not nigh to fornication; surely it is an indecency and an evil way.
[Al-‘Isrā’ 32]

Thinking about zina may mean one of two things.

(1) It may be merely thoughts that cross the mind, without becoming a firm resolve. A person cannot be blamed for this, but it is better to rid oneself of these thoughts so that they do not lead to anything else.

(2) It may be an established thought accompanied by resolve and intention. In this case, the person must understand that its evil affects far outweigh the immediate pleasure that a person may experience.

As huge as this trial of youth is, one should also remember that the reward for passing this great trial successfully is nothing short of Paradise!

Allah, The Most High, Says:

“But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,Then surely the Garden will be the (only) abode.” [Naziāt 41]

One should also remembering the punishment for zina in this world and in the Hereafter.

Allah, The Most High, Says:

“The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day…” [Nūr 2]

Allah, The Most High, Says:

“And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated.” [Furqān 68-69]

To deal with it one should try keeping away from everything that might provoke desire; one of the most obvious of these is looking at things which are haram (impermissible) and choosing righteous friends.

Allah, The Most High, Says:

“The adulterer marries not but an adulteress or a Mushrikah, and the adulteress, none marries her except an adulterer or a Mushrik.” [Nūr 3]

Allah, The Most High, Says:

“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze, and protect their private parts. That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and protect their private parts…and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husband’s sons, their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their women…” [Nūr 30-31]

Allah, The Most High, Says:

Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.[Ankabūt 45]

Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“There is no sin after shirk (polytheism) greater in the eyes of Allah than a drop of semen which a man places in the womb which is not lawful for him.”

Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“O young people! Whoever among you can marry, should marry, because it helps him lower his gaze and guard his modesty, and whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual urge.”

and Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones (i.e. tongue) and what is between his two legs (i.e. private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him.”

and Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“Among the words people obtained from the first prophecy are: ‘If you feel no shame, then do as you wish”

and Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“Indeed Hayaa’ and Iman are companions. When one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.”

and Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“Man is influenced by the faith of his friends. Therefore, be careful of whom you associate with.”

and Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

“Take from me; Allah has made a decree for them. A virgin (committing zina) with a virgin: one hundred lashes (for each) and exiling for year (for the man). And a married (committing zina) with a married: one hundred lashes and stoning.”

The punishment of those who die without repenting from zina begins in their grave. In a long hadith, Allah’s Messenger (SAW) related a dream in which he saw two men accompanying him (Jibreel and Maalik), showing him how a number of sinners were being punished in al-Barzakh (life between death and Judgement day). The Prophet (SAW) said:

“…We proceeded until we came across a hole in the ground that resembled a baking pit, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. Babbling and voices were issuing from it. We looked in and saw naked men and women. Underneath the pit was a raging fire; whenever it flared up, the men and women screamed and rose with it until they almost fell out of the pit. As it subsided, they returned (to the bottom). I said: ‘Who are these?’ They said: ‘…As for the naked men and women who were in the pit, they are men and women who indulge in zina…”

In a similar narration Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said:

“We moved on until I saw people who were awfully swollen, and had the most foul stench, their stench was like that of the sewers. I asked: ‘Who are these?’ They replied: ‘Those are the male and female adulterers.’”

A person who commits the sin should repent between himself and Allah, The Most High.

Conclusively, anyone who judges or rules by what Allah has revealed, can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows the law other than that of Allah and His Messenger (SAW), one can be assured of being led astray.
