36. Ya-Sin

36.1 Narrated Anas (رضي الله عنه)

That the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said: “Indeed for everything there is a heart, and the Qur’an’s heart is Ya-Sin. Whoever recites Ya-Sin, then for its recitation, Allah writes for him that he recited the Qur’an ten times.”

Jami` at-Tirmidhi Vol. 5, Book 42, Hadith 2887

36.2 It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said

“The houses of the Ansar were far from the mosque and they wanted to move closer. Then the following Verse was revealed:

﴾ ونكتب ما قدموا وآثارهم ﴿

‘We record that which they send before (them), and their traces.'” (36:12)

He said: So they remained (where they were).”

Sunan Ibn Majah 785

36.3 It was narrated that Jabor bin ‘Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) said

“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘While the people of Paradise are enjoying their blessings, a light will shine upon them, and they will raise their heads, and they will see their Lord looking upon them from above. He will say: “Peace be upon you, O people of Paradise.” This is what Allah says in the Verse:

﴾ سلام قولا من رب رحيم ﴿

“Salam (peace be upon you) – a Word from the Lord (Allah), The Most Merciful.” (36:58)

He will look at them, and they will look at Him, and they will not pay any attention to the delights (of Paradise) so long as they look at Him, until He will screen Himself from them. But His light and blessing will remain with them in their bodies.'”

36.4 Narrated Ma’qil ibn Yasar (رضي الله عنه)

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم)  said: Recite Surah Ya-Sin over your dying men. This is the version of Ibn al-Ala’

36.5 Narrated from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه)

Which says that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم)  said: “Allah recited Ta-Ha and Ya-Seen one thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth. When the angels heard the Qur’an they said, ‘Glad tidings to the nation to whom this will be revealed, and glad tidings to the hearts that will bear this, and glad tidings to the tongues that will speak these words.’”

Sunan al-Darimi, 3280

36.6 It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (رضي الله عنه)

That the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said, ‘I desire that Sura Ya-Seen be in the heart of every person of my Ummah.’

Musnad al-Bazzar

36.7 Anas ibn Maalik (رضي الله عنه)

Narrated that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم)  said: “Whoever enters the graveyard and recites Soorat Ya-Sin, (the torment) will be reduced for them that day, and he will have hasanaat equivalent to the number of people in the graveyard.”

36.8 Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) reports

The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) saying, “Whoever recites Surah Ya-Seen on the eve of Friday he will be forgiven by morning.”

36.9 Aisha (رضي الله عنها) reports

That the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, “Indeed in the Noble Qur’aan there is a Surah, for its reading will intercede and will be a means of forgiveness for its listener. Listen carefully, it is Surah Ya-Seen, in the Torah it is called Muimmah.”It was enquired, “O’ Messenger of Allah, what is Muimmah?” Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) replied, “It contains for its reader the benefits of this world, it removes from him the dread of the next life, and it is called Dafiah and Qadhiyah.” Again it was enquired, “How is this Surah Dafiah and Qadhiyah?”Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) replied, “It takes away from its reader all afflictions and fulfills his need. Whoever recites it, it will be made equal to twenty pilgrimages. Whoever shall listen to it, it will be as thousand dinars, which he has given as charity in the path of Allah. And whoever shall write it and then drink it, it will enter into his heart a thousand cures, a thousand radiant lights, a thousand times more increase in belief, a thousand mercies, a thousand blessings, a thousand times more increase in guidance, and will remove from him all gall and disease.”

 36.10 Umm ad-Darda (رضي الله عنها) reports

The Noble Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) saying, “Over no person who is about to die and Surah Ya-Seen is read upon them but Allah Ta’ala lightens the difficulties of death for him.”

Tafsir al-Qurtubi

36.11 Maqal bin Yasar (رضي الله عنه) narrates

That the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said, ‘Surah Al Baqarah is the highest point and peak of the Quran, and eighty angels were sent with each verse of it. Allahu Laa ilaha Illa Huwal Hayyul Qayyum (Ayatul Kursi) were taken from beneath the Arsh (Throne) and attached with it (that is, with Surah Al Baqara).  SurahYa-Seen is the heart of the Quran. No one recites it seeking the pleasure of Allah and intending the hereafter, except that he is forgiven by Allah. Recite it upon your dying people.’

Musnad Ahmad 20322

36.12 Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said 

Whoever recites Ya-Seen in the morning, there will be ease for him till evening. And whoever recites Ya-Seen at night than there will be ease for him till morning

Sunan al-Darimi 1/457 3422 

36.13 Jundub ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) narrates

Whoever reads Yaseen at night seeking the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala he is forgiven.”

36.14 Al-Suyuti (رحمه الله) narrated

Whoever reads Ya-Seen seeking Allah’s pleasure, his past sins will be forgiven. So recite it over the dying among you.

Jami’ al Sagheer 5785

36.15 Al-Tabrizi (رحمه الله) narrated

Whoever reads Ya-Seen at the beginning of the day; his needs will be fulfilled

Mishkat al-Masaabih  2118

36.16 Abu Hurayrah, (رضي الله عنه) said

The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said: Whoever recites Ya-Sin in the night, will wake up forgiven, and whoever recites Ha-Mim in which Ad-Dukhan (the Smoke) is mentioned (Surah 44), will wake up forgiven.
