34. Saba’
34.1 Narrated Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه)
That the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said: “When Allah decrees a matter in the Heavens, the angels beat their wings in submission to His saying, (sounding) as if it is a chain (being dragged) upon a rock.
﴾ إذا فزع عن قلوبهم قالوا ماذا قال ربكم قالوا الحق وهو العلي الكبير ﴿
When the fear resides from their hearts, they say (to each other): ‘What did your Lord say?’ They reply: ‘The truth, and He is the Most High the Great (34:23).’
He said: ‘And the Shayatin are one atop another.'”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Vol. 5, Book 44, Hadith 322
34.2 Narrated Ibn Mas’ud (رضي الله عنه)
“The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) entered Makkah during the year of the Conquest, and there were three hundred and sixty Nusb (Altars to sacrifice to idols) around the Ka’bah. So the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) started hitting them with a stick he had in his hand” – or perhaps he said: “With a piece of wood, and he was saying:
﴾ جاء الحق وزهق الباطل إن الباطل كان زهوقا ﴿
The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Surely falsehood is ever bound to vanish (17:81).
﴾ جاء الحق وما يبدئ الباطل وما يعيد ﴿
The truth has come and falsehood can neither originate anything nor resurrect (anything) (34:49).”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Vol. 5, Book 44, Hadith 3138
34.3 Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said
In commenting on the words of Allah Almighty,
﴾ وما أنفقتم من شيء فهو يخلفه وهو خير الرازقين ﴿
Anything you spend will be replaced by Him. and He is the best of Providers” (34:39),
“without extravagance or parsimony.”
