and he recites three Ayat from the end of Surah Al-Hashr

He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

– Allah appoints seventy-thousand angels who say Salat upon him until the evening. If he dies on that day, he dies a martyr, and whoever reaches the evening, he holds the same status.”

He made him sit down in front of him and I heard him seeking refuge for him with Fatihatil-Kitab; four Verses from the beginning of Al-Baqarah, two Verses from its middle: ‘And your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God – Allah),’ [2:163] and Ayat Al-Kursi; and three Verses from its end; a Verse from Al ‘Imran, I think it was: ‘Allah bears witness that La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He),’ [3:18] a Verse from Al-A’raf: ‘Indeed, your Lord is Allah,’ [7:54] a Verse from Al-Mu’minun: ‘And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allah, any other ilah (god), of whom he has no proof,’[23:117] a Verse from Al-Jinn: ‘And He, exalted is the Majesty of our Lord,’ [72:3] ten Verses from the beginning of As-Saffat; three Verses from the end of Al-Hashr; (then) ‘Say: He is Allah, (the) One,’ [112:1] and Al-Mu’awwidhatain.

Whatever you cut down of their palm trees, or you left them standing on their trunks, then it was by the permission of Allah, and in the order to disgrace the rebellious. (59:5)”

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1552

59.9 Sa’id b. Jubair reported (رضي الله عنه)

I said to Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) about Sura Tauba, whereupon he said: As for Sura Tauba, it is meant to humiliate (the non-believers and the hypocrites). There is constantly revealed in it (the pronoun) minhum (of them) and minhom (of them, i. e. such is the condition of some of them) till they (the Muslims) thought that none would be left unmentioned out of them who would not be blamed (for one fault or the other). I again said: What about Sura Anfal? He said: It pertains to the Battle of Badr. I again asked him about Sura al-Hashr. He said: It was revealed in connection with (the tribe) of Banu Nadir.

Sahih Muslim 3031

59.10 Narrated Sa’id bin Jubair (رضي الله عنه)

I mentioned to Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) Surat-Hashr. He said, “Call it Surat-an-Nadir.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 4029

59.11 Ibn Mas’ud (رضي الله عنه) said:

Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing and those women who have themselves tattooed, and those women who get their hair removed from their eyebrows and faces (except the beard and the mustache), and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth for beauty, whereby they change Allah’s creation. A woman started to argue with him, saying: “What is all this?” He replied: “Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) cursed and who are cursed in Allah’s Book? Allah, the Exalted, has said in His Book:

وما آتاكم الرسول فخذوه وما نهاكم عنه فانتهوا

“And whatsoever the Messenger [Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم)] gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it).” (59:7)

Riyad as-Salihin Book 18, Hadith 135

59.12 Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported that

A guest spent the night with a person from the Ansar who had nothing with him but food (sufficient) for his own self and his children. He said to his wife:

(Lull) the children to sleep, and put out the lamp, and serve the guest with what you have with you. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed:

ويؤثرون على أنفسهم ولو كان بهم خصاصة

“Those who prefer the needy to their own selves in spite of the fact that they are themselves in pressing need” (59:9).

Sahih Muslim 2054 b

59.13 Ibn Kathir (رحمه الله) related about

And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul – it is those who will be the successful (59:9)

Imam Ahmad (رحمه الله) recorded that Jabir bin Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) said that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said, “Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is darkness on the Day of Resurrection. – Be on your guard against being stingy, for being stingy is what destroyed those who were before you. It made them shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.” Muslim collected this Hadith.

59.14 Jarir bin ‘Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) reported

We were with Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) shortly after dawn when there came to him some people clad in woollen rags, or covered with sleeveless blankets; and with swords hanging down from their necks. Most of them rather, all of them, belonged to the Mudar tribe. The face of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) changed when he saw them starving. Then he went into his house and came out; then he commanded Bilal (May Allah be pleased with him) to proclaim Adhan (call to prayers). So he proclaimed Adhan and recited Iqamah and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) led the Salat. Then he delivered a Khutbah saying,

“O mankind! Be dutiful to your Rubb, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife (Eve), and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allah through Whom you demand your (natural) rights, and do not sever the relations of kinship. Surely, Allah is Ever an All-Watcher over you.” (4:1)

He also recited the Ayah which is in the end of Surat Al-Hashr:

يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله ولتنظر نفس ما قدمت لغد

“O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every one look what he has sent forth for the tomorrow” (59:18).

Thereafter, every man gave in charity Dinar, Dirham, clothes, measure-fulls of wheat and measure-fulls of dates till he said: “(Give in charity) be it half a date”. Then a man of the Ansar came with a bag which was difficult for him to hold in his hand. Thereafter, the people came successively (with charity) till I saw two heaps of food and clothes. I noticed that the face of Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) was glowing like that of the bright moon or glittering gold. Then he (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said, “Whosoever introduces a good practice in Islam, there is for him its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him without anything being diminished from their rewards. And whosoever introduces an evil practice in Islam, will shoulder its sin and the sins of all those who will act upon it, without diminishing in any way their burden”

Riyad as-Salihin Book 1, Hadith 171

59.15 Mundhir b. Jarir reported on the authority of his father

While we were in the company of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) in the early hours of the morning, some people came there (who) were barefooted, naked, wearing striped woollen clothes, or cloaks, with their swords hung (around their necks). Most of them, nay, all of them, belonged to the tribe of Mudar. The colour of the face of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) underwent a change when he saw them in poverty. He then entered (his house) and came out and commanded Bilal (to pronounce Adhan). He pronounced Adhan and Iqima, and he (the Holy Prophet) observed prayer (along with his Companion) and then addressed (them reciting verses of the Holy Qur’an):

يا أيها الناس اتقوا ربكم الذي خلقكم من نفس واحدة وخلق منها زوجها وبث منهما رجالا كثيرا ونساء واتقوا الله الذي تساءلون به والأرحام إن الله كان عليكم رقيبا

“O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah , through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.” (4:1).

(He then recited) a verse of Sura Hashr:”

“O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every one look what he has sent forth for the tomorrow -and fear Allah” (59:18).

(Then the audience began to vie with one another in giving charity.) Some donated a dinar, others a dirham, still others clothes, some donated a sa’ of wheat, some a sa’ of dates; till he (the Holy Prophet) said: (Bring) even if it is half a date. Then a person from among the Ansar came there with a money bag which his hands could scarcely lift; in fact, they could not (lift). Then the people followed continuously, till I saw two heaps of eatables and clothes, and I saw the face of the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) glistening, like gold (on account of joy). The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said: He who sets a good precedent in Islam, there is a reward for him for this (act of goodness) and reward of that also who acted according to it subsequently, without any deduction from their rewards; and he who sets in Islam an evil precedent, there is upon him the burden of that, and the burden of him also who acted upon it subsequently, without any deduction from their burden.

Sahih Muslim 1017 a

If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. (59:21)

of surah Al-Hashr is an exorcisement for headache.

(Dur al-Manthur 6/516)

If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. (59:21)

If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. (59:21)

is a refuge from the Jinns.

Then say, O You Whose Magnificence is such that there is no one like You, I request You to do such and such for me.’ By Allah! O Bara! If you pray even against me, I will surely be in trouble

(Dur al-Manthur 6/517)

59.21 Sayyid Mustafa Musawi (رحمه الله‎) writes

If a four-rak’ah prayer is recited where after Surah al-Hamd, Surah al-Hashr is recited, then whatever important work one goes to do will be successful (with the condition that it is not a sin).

(Remedies from the Quran p95)

of Surah Al-Hashr daily and frequently. Allah will make the people respect and obey him by virtue of the Dhikr of His Asma (Names) Al-Azeez and Al-Hakeem.
